Cardiff (Welch: Caerdydd)

Carey flew in Friday night. We had just over a day in Cardiff and are currently on a long cross-country train journey to Edinburgh. The people in Cardiff were lovely -- as well as being quite different from the reserved British stereotype -- they seemed kind, open, friendly and warm, though in a low-key sort of way.  A country fair was in progress on the grounds of Cardiff Castle -- featuring, amongst other things, a large selection of British cheeses, breads and beers. After soliciting suggestions we enjoyed a picnic lunch of Stilton cheese, walnut bread and a pint each of Old Slug Porter. It was divine -- with the added plus of the setting.
